Friendship Club
On Wednesday 28 November 2008 we alternated the Friendship Club with a Film Club showing some of the great musicals of the past years starting with 'Annie Get Your Gun' starring Howard Keel and Betty Hutton. The afternoon was free with a nominal charge of 50p for tea and refreshments. We started at 2pm and finished about 3.30, Hopefully when COVID is over we can get back to doing this again.
Past activities; 14 September 2016 Had a great Friendship Club on Wednesday today where Bethany shared her time at Calvary Bible College in Hungary. She spoke so confidently about her experience and how it had enriched her spiritual life - everyone enjoyed it. When I think of how at her age the furthest I had been from Idle was a week in Filey and Bethany has been to Hungary, Israel, Austria - WOW! This week she starts University in Lancaster and our prayers go with her - she will be missed - Love her so much
The group was open every Wednesday 2pm to 3.30 to both men and women of a more mature age. We have folk between the ages of 40 and 90. The meeting started with a song, a prayer- we then had a break and some refreshment after which Billy shared some nostalgic thoughts and reminiscings. We closed with a bible reading and brief thoughts. Before we went home at 3.30 we enjoyed a final song and prayer.
For newcomers the first week was free, after which a weekly subscription of 50p was paid which goes towards the refreshments and Christmas presents. An access bus brought and took home those who booked it.
